When you first walk in, you'll notice a glowing
core in the center of the screen. Your goal is to
reach it. But the enemy encounter rate is huge,
and Enc-Half and Enc-None don't work here. So it's
not as easy as it might seem. But there is a trick
to getting this done easy. The core pulses, if you
wait until it's not glowing to make progress, then
you won't have to worry about it. Once you reach
the center Bahamut will ask you some questions,
then fight you.

After ansering his questions you'll be taken to
a boss fight. Bahamut is strong against Poison and
is immune to Thunder and Wind. Your first order
of businsess should be to cast blind/pain on him
somehow, whether it's junctioned to your status
attack on in your magic reserves. You should probably
cast Shell to cut down the damage done by his magic
attacks. Now the only thing for you to worry about
is his best attack: Mega Flare. No matter what you
defense is it breaks through it, as if it's not
even there.
After defeating him, leave and come back, there
will now be a hole where the core used to be. You
can now go deeper into then research center.
